Well hello sunshine!
The end of week 7 of my auto-immune protocol journey and the end of the weekend – and what a beautiful weekend it has been! Such gorgeous weather and I think I managed to get my vitamin D levels topped up just in time for another whole week of rain!
New egg stall
The previous week was meant to be my first week of introductions…in the end I only added in ghee, due to a horrific bout of food poisoning on Monday. I won’t go into details, it was nasty, I was in a Bondi cafe and it only had one toilet. Nightmare! Because it was a bad egg that made me ill I didn’t eat eggs for the whole week – until today, when I was won over by a stall at Marrickville Market selling organic and free range eggs. The chickens are looked after by “flock guardian” dogs, first used by Roman shepherds back in 2000BC – how could I resist?! And the egg I had for lunch, along with stir fried beetroot leaves, red onion and mushrooms, was sooo yummy!
Back to the ghee introduction, this was grass fed, cultured ghee from Pepe Saya, so I wasn’t expecting any issues and I didn’t have any I’m giving myself 3 days off from ghee after eating it for a few days earlier in the week and I’m planning on including it into my diet on a regular basis from tomorrow. Next week I’m adding nuts back in, which I am really looking forward to – I have a bag of macadamias bought direct from the farmer that I’ve been holding on to for about a month! Although I’d love to be adding chocolate or coffee back (cue boyfriend walking through the door with a massive bar of chocolate! grrrr) in I’m focusing on reintroducing the most nutrient dense foods first.
Wish me luck – have a fabulous week! xx
